Yacht Carbon Offset is pleased to announce its partnership with ETYC, a Monaco-based company dedicated to advancing sustainability across the luxury yachting and cruise industries. This partnership reflects a shared conviction: that meaningful environmental progress in yachting requires both immediate action and long-term strategic commitment.
Who Are ETYC?
Founded in Monaco in 2019, ETYC (Environmental Training for Yacht Crew) was established by Claire Ferandier Sicard, a former Chief Stewardess with eight years of experience aboard luxury yachts. Recognising firsthand the scale of the industry’s environmental footprint and the lack of practical tools available to crews, Claire set out to change that. The result is an organisation that sits at the intersection of crew education, digital innovation, and environmental management.
ETYC has since grown into one of the yachting industry’s most recognised sustainability specialists. In 2023, the company was voted Best Sustainable Superyacht Business by captains and crew at the Acrew Awards, and has had the privilege of hosting H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco at its stand during the Monaco Yacht Show. Training sessions are delivered in partnership with the Belle Classe Academy at the Yacht Club of Monaco, and the company operates as a proud member of MonacoTech.
The ETYC Sustainability Platform
At the heart of the partnership is the ETYC Sustainability Platform, a digital solution designed specifically for the yachting sector. The platform enables yacht crews to monitor, manage and optimise a vessel’s environmental performance across key operational areas, including energy, water, waste and onboard products. By combining action guidance, access to sustainable solutions, and automated impact and compliance reporting, it gives crews, managers, and owners the tools to turn sustainability ambitions into concrete, measurable results.
The platform is subscription-based and built around ETYC’s Environmental Management System (EMS), which provides a structured framework for continuous improvement. Vessels that implement the platform effectively can reduce their carbon footprint by up to 50%, while also achieving compliance with the evolving regulatory landscape that is increasingly shaping the industry.
Training, Coaching & Certification
Beyond the digital platform, ETYC offers a comprehensive suite of training and support services designed to embed sustainability into the culture of a vessel’s crew. For vessels requiring deeper support, ETYC also offers post-training coaching, where a specialist works directly alongside Heads of Department to assess each area of the vessel, align the action plan with EMS goals, and navigate implementation challenges effectively.
Completing the process is ETYC’s audit and certification programme, which confirms effective implementation of the EMS, evaluates progress, and identifies areas for further improvement. Certification is reviewed every 18 months, ensuring vessels continue to raise their standards over time rather than simply meeting a one-off benchmark.
A Natural Complement To Carbon Offsetting
The ETYC Sustainability Platform complements Yacht Carbon Offset’s existing services by supporting a broader, more strategic approach to sustainability. Carbon offsetting remains an immediate and effective way to address the unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions associated with yacht fuel consumption. But it is most impactful when integrated into a wider environmental programme, one that actively works to measure, reduce and manage a vessel’s footprint across every operational area.
That is precisely what ETYC provides. Together, the two services offer yacht owners and crew a complete sustainability pathway: reducing emissions where possible through the ETYC platform, and responsibly compensating for those that remain through high-quality, verified carbon credits.
Part Of A Growing Movement
Our partnership with ETYC sits within a wider shift taking place across the superyacht industry. The Superyacht Eco Association (SEA Index) recently announced that Yacht Carbon Offset will be offering a 15% discount on its carbon offsetting service to all SEA Index Certified Yachts. Meanwhile, SEA Index has formalised a strategic partnership with the Port de Marseille Fos and launched the industry’s first dedicated Air Quality Certification, evaluated in collaboration with AtmoSud. The direction of travel is clear: environmental accountability is becoming the standard, not the exception.
For yacht owners and operators looking to get ahead of that curve, the combination of ETYC’s platform and Yacht Carbon Offset’s services offers a practical, credible, and comprehensive starting point.
