Since 2022, Yacht Carbon Offset has been proud to partner with St. Katharine Docks, Central London’s only marina, to help visitors reduce the environmental impact of their boating activities. Situated on the east side of Tower Bridge, St. Katharine Docks is one of London’s most distinctive and storied destinations. With a history stretching back to the 12th century, the docks have evolved from a working commercial port into a tranquil marina and vibrant community hub, welcoming vessels from around the world whilst offering dining, leisure and office space in a setting unlike anywhere else in Central London.
The marina is managed by IGY Marinas and has recently been awarded five gold anchor status for a third consecutive year, as well as achieving Clean Marina accreditation in early 2026, a recognition of its commitment to environmental best practice. It is a marina that takes its responsibilities seriously, which is precisely what makes the partnership with Yacht Carbon Offset such a natural fit. Four years on, it is a partnership that continues to grow, and one that offers a compelling example of what can be achieved when a committed community takes small, consistent steps in the right direction.
How The Partnership Works
The carbon offset scheme at the heart of the partnership is refreshingly simple. When booking their stay at St. Katharine Docks, marina visitors are invited to make a voluntary £1 contribution towards carbon offsetting. St. Katharine Docks matches every contribution pound for pound, immediately doubling the positive impact of each donation. Yacht Carbon Offset then completes the transaction by directing those funds towards a carefully selected, independently verified carbon reduction project. The model is deliberately accessible. There are no complex calculations, no lengthy sign-up processes, and no obligation. It is an invitation to do something positive, made as easy as possible to accept.
St. Katharine Docks is not simply a marina. It is a vibrant community of boating enthusiasts, liveaboards, leisure visitors and sailing clubs, set against the backdrop of one of London’s most iconic landmarks. Four Years, 158 Tonnes
Since the scheme launched, marina visitors and St. Katharine Docks together have offset more than 158 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. It is a result that speaks to the power of collective action. No single contribution achieves it. But when a community of boat owners, weekend visitors and marina regulars each makes a small voluntary gesture, the combined impact becomes genuinely meaningful.
